The DZ12 is powered by a bespoke, naturally aspirated, horizontally opposed air-cooled flat-12 engine. Developed in house from a clean sheet and CNC machined from heat treated and in-process heat cycled billets. D Zug Automobili has engineered the rotating assembly components to counter the tendency of harmonic vibrations in horizontally opposed engines. Thanks to a CNC billet crankshaft, forged aluminum pistons, titanium connecting rods and valvetrain, the DZA flat-12 crescendos at a howling 9000 rpm rev limit. Its firing order, individual throttle bodies and tig-welded thin-wall Inconel exhaust combine to deliver nostalgic visceral music from idle to redline.

At idle, it rumbles with a focused, mechanical growl, but as revs climb toward its screaming 9,000 rpm redline, it transforms into an intense wail: sharp, metallic, and utterly addictive, blending throaty mid-range bark with a piercing top-end shriek that's pure mechanical fury. The note remains undisturbed and analog—pure, unfiltered emotion.
